Financial ratings are a measurement, gauged by respected independent sources, assuring current and prospective customers of a company’s financial stability. The major rating agencies are: A.M. Best, Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s. Each agency has its own coding system. IFG provides completion guarantees that are issued directly from Fireman’s Fund, a well-recognized, licensed insurance carrier with financial ratings consistently ranked among the highest in the industry. Since the rating agency’s role is to inform policyholders about a company’s ability to pay claims in the short and long term, it is important to Fireman Fund’s business to consistently maintain an "A" rating. As of December 31, 2010, Fireman’s Fund reported:
- Statutory assets of more than $11.1 billion, with $2.7 billion in policyholder statutory surplus
- Financial ratings of Excellent ("A") from A.M. Best, Stable ("A+") from Standard & Poor’s and Good ("A2") from Moody’s.
